We have just taken on these really fantastic 1 & 2 bedroom professional apartments to rent, located in Headingley, on the site of the lost Zoo & Botanical Gardens of Leeds.
Yes, you read that correctly, Headingley once had a zoo & botanical gardens where the citizens of Leeds could see exotic plants, birds, and animals all in the clean fresh air away from the smoke in the city. The gardens even had it’s own railway station.
There are very few traces of the zoo and gardens these days, a bear pit built like a castle with turrets remains, and a section of ticket office wall on Spring Road. On closer examination it appears that the majority of the boundary wall, or the footprint of it remains, and another ticket office further up Spring Road.
It is this ticket office wall that can be clearly seen from the private car-park on the grounds of the apartments. The grounds as they are today are equally as fantastic as they once were.
